My First Race

I'm definitely not a "real" runner - still just a runner poser, but now I have my first official race bib. I completed my first race this past weekend - the Cooper River Bridge Run (10K). I finished in pretty average time, I think (1:02:09), but I'm just glad I finished. I hope to be able to say "I finished" after the Country Music Half Marathon next month.

I'm learning a lot about discipline through this training, and hoping to actually be disciplined in the next month leading up to the half. Always trying to remember, though:

Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. - 1 Timothy 4:8

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. - Hebrews 12:1-2

PS - As I said, I'm not a real runner. If you want to read the blog of a real runner, check out my friend, Jennifer's blog.
